The Greek word for unbelief is “apistos” meaning: “not worthy of confidence, untrustworthy…a thing not to be believed or credible.įirst the father gave the right answer. In Romans 4:3, the Greek word for ‘believed’ is ‘pisteuo ‘ meaning: to be firmly persuaded as to something, to believe with the idea of hope and certain expectation. “Anything is possible if a person believes.” The father instantly cried out, “I do believe. “What do you mean, IF I can?” Jesus asked. What do you think would be the biggest obstacle to glorifying God?Ĭan you think of several reasons why we would have to cast down pride to break free from any areas of captivity? Name as many reasons as you can. “I live in a high and holy place, but also with him who is contrite and lowly in spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite.” – Isaiah 57:15 Not merely obeying His Word as an act of our will but Honor Him as an attitude of our heart ~ ms, By demanding that we seek His Glory alone, He calls us to overcome the overwhelming and very natural temptation to seek our own. He will not share His Glory with another. Isaiah 43:7 says we are called to allow the King of all creation to reveal Himself through us. If we are to recognize and allow God to free us from any areas of captivity, we must recognize pride as more than self-promotion. Nothing could be more natural than self-seeking. God will show Himself “Great and Mighty” in those whose heart’s desire is His Name and renown.įew thi ngs are more contrary to our human nature than desiring anyone’s ‘fame’ or ‘renown’ above our own.
